Program Management and Construction Management

We specialize in helping the client with difficult and complex design and construction contracting issues. Our preferred approach is to work with the client's project management team including in-house staff team participants, training them in the project management and then provide our highly specialized partner experts to back up this client team and assist in handling the difficult and more complex contract issues that may arise during the design and construction phase.

We find that improving the skills of the in-house project management organization results in a more cost effective solution for the owner, even when it is necessary to hire outside program/construction management firms to assist with a large program implementation. First, the in-house team gets to play a more influential role in the program management effort (a challenge that pays dividend in staff retention), and second, the in-house staff is not totally dependent on the outside consulting firm to properly manage the program. In fact, we can help the in-house staff make an effective selection of their consultant support and scope their work more definitively, and periodically evaluate the performance of these consultant firms.

We assist the client's team with specialized staff needs like scheduling expertise, development of a Construction Management Plan, construction contract packaging strategies, training, development and implementation of project cost and schedule controls, construction contract risk assessment, scope flexibility and constructability reviews, disputes management, funds control, consolidated material and equipment procurement, and construction contractor certification and prequalification.

These services have proved to be a way of simplifying the construction acquisition process, meeting schedule requirements with fewer disputes and scope changes, and increasing small business and minority/women owned business participation. And some of these services are not available from any other source.
